Over spring break, a group of 50 University of Maine at Farmington led by student Minarva (Mina) Craig of Lisbon Falls, Maine traveled for two days by bus from Farmington to New Orleans to volunteer in a Hurricane Katrina recovery mission organized by InterVarsity New England.

Working in the Katrina-damaged 9th Parish of New Orleans, UMF students worked to help renovate homes and rebuild lives as part of ServeUp-New Orleans 2015.

They developed deep friendships with one another and the families they served as they considered challenging issues of faith and justice while serving the people of the Gulf Coast.
