Johnson Scholars is a University of Maine at Farmington TRIO program that provides academic and personal support to students who are the first in their families to attend a four-year college, students who come from families with limited incomes, or students who have physical or learning disabilities.

Regardless of whether you have chosen a major at UMF or are undecided about your academic path, if you are a first-generation college student, you are highly encouraged to apply.

College is exciting and life-changing, but learning the way things work on campus can be an enormous challenge.

HIS-UMFPA-2012-1884

As a college student, you will be asked to think through difficult reading assignments, solve problems and write well. The Johnson Scholars Program will help you develop these necessary skills while taking into consideration that each student brings to campus a different set of strengths and experiences.

Our role is to provide a welcoming space — your home base — where you can build the individualized advising relationships that will help you realize your goals.
