Helen has worked with children with autism and their families for many years. She became interested in the field of early childhood special education in 1992, when she spent a year in China and volunteered with a young girl with autism. Her Ph.D. and subsequent research has focused on intervention and support for young children with autism and their families and teachers. She previously taught for ten years at a small liberal arts college in NY, and subsequently spent 4 years consulting and doing research and outreach work with teachers and families of children with autism in China. She is thrilled to be working with the dedicated and talented students in her classes at UMF.
