All of Stone Hall is considered a Pet-Friendly residence hall. Although Stone Hall is typically single-sex rooms by neighbor, the University allows students to choose a “gender-inclusive” placement in this hall. The lower level of Stone Hall has a large laundry room and kitchen.

This residence hall is overseen by an Area Director who assists in the development of communal living. This professional staff person is responsible for enhancing residents’ college experience by assisting in holistic community development.

Programs designed by the Community Assistants in the hall promote the development of academic, personal, and social well-being. A Community Assistant is an upper-class UMF student who assists in building community within their areas, as well as helping residents get involved in the campus community through various programming initiatives.

Building Description – New Pet-Friendly Hall

UMF understands that pets can greatly improve the quality of life for some people. To that end, we are excited to announce that dogs, cats, hamsters, rabbits, gerbils, and turtles will be able to join you in Stone Hall for the 2024-25 academic year.

It’s important to understand that there is an application process with specific requirements and policies in place to ensure that all members of the community will be safe and healthy — whether they have two legs, four legs, shells, or gills. Please note that not all animals will be accepted.

Important notices: Access to live in the Pet-Friendly Community in Stone Hall will be on a first-come-first-served basis. No animals will be allowed into the building until final approval is granted by the UMF Student Life Office. Each resident will be limited to one pet.

More information regarding the process, required documentation and policies will be coming soon.
