What would you say if someone told you that, simply by submitting a portfolio or taking a few tests, you could earn college credit and shave months or sometimes years off your degree program?

Sound too good to be true?

Adult students often have significant college-level learning acquired outside of the classroom.

UMF offers you the option to evaluate that learning so that it can count toward your degree. This means we can shorten the time it takes for you to earn a degree and reduce the cost of your education. We know it can all feel more than a little bewildering.

Our advisors can meet with you individually to discuss the best path forward for you, giving you a tailor-made roadmap to success, and making that path as straightforward (and short!) as possible.

With CPL you can save time by turning your prior work and life experiences into college credits!

  • You can send previous exam scores (e.g., CLEP, DSST, etc) or arrange to take an exam – 15 credits max.
  • Credit for military training (typically through American Council on Education, or ACE)- 15 credits max.
  • Create an experiential learning portfolio including review of additional external training, licenses, or certifications.- 15 credits max.
  • Checkout our live spreadsheet (coming soon!) of frequently reviewed credentials and trainings.

Ready to find out how you can earn credit for prior learning?

Then it is time to talk with Kirsten Petroska kirsten.petroska@maine.edu

According to CAEL:

43%

Of adult students who earn credit for prior learning get a bachelor’s degree.  Nearly tripling the chances of successfully achieving the degree!
