The UMF Student Health Center provides available and affordable health care for all UMF students: full-time students and part-time students, whether you live in the residence halls or live off-campus. You can make an appointment by calling (207) 778-7200 or by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
For more information on isolation and quarantine procedures see our helpful Isolation and Quarantine Planning Guide For Students (pdf) and the UMF COVID-19 Decision Tree (pdf).
Immunizations & Physicals
These include a tetanus/diphtheria vaccine given within the last 10 years and 2 doses of measles/mumps/rubella (MMR). They are required by state law, and you will not be able to register for classes without documenting that you have had these vaccines.
There are several immunizations which are not required by the state or the college but are recommended. They provide protection against some serious diseases (such as meningitis) which may affect college-age individuals. You should consider being immunized if you haven’t been already.
Physical Health Examinations
A physical is not required to attend UMF, however a sports physical is required if you plan to participate in intercollegiate or club sport activities. If you plan to play an intercollegiate or club sport in the fall, we encourage you to have your sports physical done at home before arriving on campus. Please send documentation of your physical to our office. We do provide required sports physicals at our Health Center during the academic year for returning students or those that sign up for sports once school is in session.
If you have any questions about immunizations or physicals, please contact us.
Student Health Insurance
A new change in the health insurance verification requirement for students enrolled at UMF took effect on August 1, 2021.
This UMaine System webpage outlines student options for accessing health insurance coverage and information about free wellbeing resources for those students who are not already covered under another plan.
Although health insurance is no longer required to attend UMF, affordable health insurance is available. We strongly encourage students to acquire health insurance coverage that meets their individual needs. There are cost-effective options available for many students, including expanded eligibility for income-based premium subsidies.
