Common Questions:

Before Housing Selection Make Sure You Have….Back to top

  • Make sure you do not have a HOLD on your account! You must be current on your payment plan or have your bill paid in full in order to select a room or be pulled in. If you have an immunization hold or past due financial hold, you will not be able to participate. If your hold is lifted on or after your selection date, please contact Kelsey (KCSmith@maine.edu); you are NOT automatically activated for the lottery once your hold is lifted!
  • Have a back-up room in mind in case your first choice is taken.
  • Make sure you have access to a computer and the internet on your selection day. Use Internet Explorer for best results in MaineStreet.
  • With Mainestreet, you can pull in your intended roommate. This means that if you plan to live with someone you can coordinate between the two (or more) of you who will be responsible for signing up for your housing through MaineStreet using your lottery number/selection day. To add your roommate to your housing selection (hall/room), you will need their student ID number handy when signing up for housing.
  • IMPORTANT NOTE: If you plan to live with a roommate, but are going to have your roommate select your housing for you both, you will automatically be assigned Meal Plan A – the unlimited meal plan with $100. If you would like to change your meal plan after the selection process, please contact Kelsey at KCSmith@maine.edu
  • Because online room selection is not available for gender inclusive rooms, students in or requesting gender inclusive rooms and residents / intended residents of FAB will select via email.
  • Meal Plan Options: All residents living on campus, with the exception of those living in Lockwood Hall, are required to have a residential meal plan. When selecting housing, you will be asked to select your meal plan from the options below:
    • Meal Plan A – Unlimited Meal Plan with $200
    • Meal Plan B – 10 Meal Per week Plan with $300
    • Meal Plan C – 14 Meal Per week Plan with $200

Lottery Numbers, What are they and What do they mean? Back to top

Lottery Numbers will be available on MaineStreet at Monday, March 8th by 4PM.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Lottery Numbers are based on credit hours earned as of the end of Fall 2021 semester. These numbers DO NOT include credits for classes you are currently taking this semester. Lottery Numbers will be used for housing of new FAB suites and new Gender Inclusive Rooms only. If selecting through same room retention or on your assigned class standing day, your lottery number will have nothing to do with the order in which you choose housing. This is a first come, first served, and the lottery number is just a placeholder.
