Bio

Dr. Joshua Hill joined the Early Childhood Education faculty at UMF in 2020. Prior to coming to UMF, Dr. Hill had nine years of classroom experience working in a variety of early childhood classrooms including public school preschools, university lab schools, and private childcare centers. Dr. Hill teaches ECH 150 Introduction to ECE, ECH 192 Introductory Practicum in ECE, and ECH 232 Social Science for the Young Child. They are an active member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children, the National Council of Teachers of English, and the National Association of Early Childhood Teacher Educators. Dr. Hill’s research interests include representations of transgender children in picture books, the inclusion of LGBTQ+ children and families in picture books, and an anti-bias curriculum in preschool settings. When not working, they enjoy spending time with their dogs and traveling with their partner.
