The Division of Graduate & Continuing Education is at the center of UMF’s commitment to collaboration with teachers working in Maine’s Pre K-12 schools. This commitment finds life in programs that have a long history of quality, as well as new programs that are developed each year in response to needs voiced by the Pre K-12 community.

Graduate Programs at UMF

The University of Maine at Farmington Graduate Programs offer a high quality learning experience with instructors who are well-respected in their areas of expertise. The University offers six Master’s degrees, including one strictly online Master’s program through UMaineOnline.

M.S.Ed. in Early Childhood

Focusing on birth through age 8, as well as an understanding of the family and community contexts in which these children are educated.

M.S.Ed. in Educational Leadership

Tailored for educators who wish to become leaders in their classrooms, schools, districts, or other educational settings.

M.S.Ed. in Mathematics Education

Designed to help leaders in the field of mathematics education and enhance the capacity of Maine schools to deliver high quality, effective mathematics instruction to all students.

M.S.Ed. in Special Education

Designed to both provide a 4+1 pathway for UMF undergraduate students as well as support the needs of public school personnel interested in teaching and leadership roles in Special Education.

M.A. in Counseling Psychology with an Emphasis in Creative Arts

Designed to provide a solid clinical foundation while integrating the creative arts into the practice of counseling and psychotherapy.

Online M.Ed. in Instructional Technology

Offered through UMaine Online, this all-online program prepares educators to create rich and meaningful learning experiences using the latest technology.

Each Graduate Certificate Program consists of related graduate courses designed to provide a concentrated, cohesive area of study. Successful completion enables students to achieve specific learning objectives and competencies in a defined field of study

The University of Maine at Farmington offers a number of Continuing Education courses that may be of particular interest to non-traditional aged, undergraduate students. These classes are offered online and in-person, whichever suits your schedule.

We will offer a different selection of courses during Winter Term 2021-2022, Spring Semester 2022, May Term 2022 and Summer Session 2022.
