Bio

Karol Maybury is an active member of the National Society for the Teaching of Psychology and she leads the Social Psychology Research Laboratory at UMF. The laboratory is composed of a team of UMF Psychology Students who conduct research on gender and emotion, human / machine interaction, perceptions of text messages and emojis, and personality research.

This year the UMF Social Psychology Laboratory is conducting an international study of human/animal personality, the first international study assessing feline and owner personality traits and cat/owner attachment. If you’re a cat owner and would like to participate in the study, click here.

In addition to teaching and conducting research in the area of Personality Psychology, Dr. Maybury and her students have presented at the American Psychological Association annual convention, the National Institute for the Teaching of Psychology, and the New England Psychological Association.

Their research on gender and emotion in sport contexts was recently published in Psi Chi, the Undergraduate Journal of Research (pdf).
