Bio

Dr. Mellisa Clawson has taught, held administrative positions, and consulted in infant, toddler, preschool, Head Start, and public school settings. At UMF, she teaches a range of courses, including Introduction to Teaching Early Childhood Education; Guidance and Behavioral Interventions; Specially Designed Instruction for the Young Child with Disabilities; Creative Arts for the Young Child, Culturally Responsive Intervention Practices; and The Opioid Crisis, Young Children, and Families. Dr. Clawson serves as president of the Board of Directors for Franklin County’s child abuse prevention agency and is an advocate for families of children with disabilities. She gives presentations across the country about place-based science education, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and inclusion.
