Bio

Dr. Schoeppner came to Farmington in the fall of 2013 after finishing a postdoctoral fellowship in Los Angeles. His expertise is in American legal history and the history of race. He just published his first book, Moral Contagion, with Cambridge University Press. He’s currently working on two projects: the early history of American immigration law and a case study of the Supreme Court’s infamous Dred Scott decision. He teaches classes on colonial America, the American Revolution, the Civil War, and American legal history. He also serves as a pre-law advisor.
