Bachelor of Arts: Interdisciplinary Studies – Professional Studies

The Degree Completion program is a flexible interdisciplinary program that allows students to tailor their education to meet personal and professional goals while maximizing their prior learning.

Bachelor of Arts: Interdisciplinary Studies – Professional Studies with a focus area in Special Education

The focus area in Special Education allows students to finish their degree with the coursework required by the State of Maine for conditional certification as a special educator (282).  This program is designed for working professionals like Education Technicians who have accumulated some college credits and are interested in finishing their degree to become fully licensed teachers.  We work with students to honor their individual experiences and we offer needed support for those who might be interested in opportunities for supervised field experience. Once students complete online coursework for their Bachelor’s degree and this Professional Focus area, they apply to the Maine DOE for 282 licensure and teach for a year on a conditional license. If that year includes satisfactory evaluations from their site administrator, they may obtain full licensure by the State of Maine.

Bachelor of Science: Rehabilitation and Human Services

This is an applied human services degree aimed at helping people with at-risk conditions to live independently and function effectively in their living, learning and working environments. If you have a passion for working with people, this experiential-focused FULLY ONLINE degree completion program might just be right for you.

Bachelor of Science: Early Childhood Education (Off-campus at Southern Maine Community College)

This program offers working professionals in the greater Portland area the opportunity to complete a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from UMF while remaining in their work setting.

Bachelor of General Studies

The General Studies program is worth pursuing if your interests do not fit into one of our other degree program or if you have transfer credits from multiple disciplines that cannot be used to satisfy another degree. This degree may be awarded when a student has completed no particular major, but has earned 128 or more credits and has met all of the general education requirements as well as the residency requirement. The General Studies degree is only available to students who at the end of the semester of application will be within 16 credit hours of completing all graduation requirements.  The General Studies degree may not be combined with any other major or degree program, including self-designed majors.
