The UMF International and Global Studies program is highly individualized to help you discover your own global interests and follow your own path as you explore important world issues.

The UMF International and Global Studies program provides you with greater knowledge and appreciation of the world’s diverse socio-cultural, economic, and political systems while exploring critical historical and contemporary issues that span the globe.
It helps broaden your potential career options, including careers in areas such as: international business & tourism, global health, international development, ESL and international education, immigration and refugee services, international law, human rights & conflict resolution, government and foreign service, non-governmental & aid agencies.
We have many opportunities for you to gain a global perspective — from affordable, short-term international travel courses to semester-long study abroad programs.
UMF offers affordable, short-term travel courses typically offered over the winter semester break and during May Term that can count toward your major. These faculty-guided travel experiences have taken students to Costa Rica, Peru, Northern Ireland, Germany, Italy, Iceland, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Scotland, Tanzania and Spain.
The International and Global Studies program also provides you with weekend trips to global cities and international destinations in its new Global Explorations program.
You may also choose to spend an entire semester at one of UMF’s partner institutions in Argentina, China, France or the United Kingdom, or participate in a National Education Exchange program in Quebec or Puerto Rico.
This program qualifies for a tuition discount of nearly $5,000 for residents of Rhode Island through the New England Regional Student Program.
